Bully Prevention

A bully is someone who says or does hurtful things over and over again. There's no room for bullying at school! And at Creech Road, we take reports of bullying seriously. We're building a safe, supportive school climate for all of our students. Any student that believes he or she has been harassed or bullied should report it immediately to a teacher, counselor or school administrator.

Bullying can include behaviors such as:

  • physical violence and attacks

  • spreading rumors

  • taunts, name-calling and put-downs

  • peer group exclusion

  • threats and intimidation

  • cyberbullying

What can you do if your child is being bullied:

  • Be supportive.

  • Listen, get the facts, and assess your child's feelings.

  • Let your child know that it's not his or her fault.

  • Praise your child for discussing the bullying.

  • Find out what your child feels he or she needs to feel safe.

  • Role-play how to handle different situations.

  • Communicate with your school. Let them know the who, what, when and where.

  • Let school officials contact the other child's parents.

  • Talk regularly with your child and school to assess whether the bullying has stopped.

  • Encourage and support your child in making friends.

What can you do if YOUR child is bullying:

  • Talk with your child to explore how your child is feeling about him/herself.

  • Teach empathy, respect, and compassion.

  • Make your expectations clear by telling your child that bullying is not okay under any circumstances.

  • Provide clear, consistent consquences for bullying.

  • Teach by example. Model tolerance and acceptance.

  • Provide positive feedback when you see your child being compassionate or handling a conflict well.

  • Be realistic - it takes time to change behavior.

  • Seek help if necessary. Your child's doctor, teacher, principal, school counsleor or a therapist can help you and your child learn how to understand and deal with bullying behavior.
